What this service is
Residential scaffolding is the everyday backbone of what we do — the access platform that lets your roofer, painter, renderer or builder work safely on a domestic property. We design, deliver, erect, inspect and strike it.
Most of our residential work falls into three buckets: re-roofs and tile repairs, fascia/soffit/gutter and rendering, and full renovations or loft conversions. We're equally happy with a single-elevation gable scaffold or a full-perimeter wrap with chimney drop — the design is matched to what the trade actually needs to do, not what's easiest for us to bolt up.
Every domestic scaffold is built to TG20:21 compliant geometry where possible and independently designed where it isn't. You get the design reference, the handover certificate and a digital copy of the inspection schedule.

What goes wrong when it's rushed
The most common residential scaffolding problems we get called to fix come from quotes that read as a one-line price with no design, no inspection schedule and no clear handover. They look cheap on day one and expensive by week three.
How we deliver this service

We attend within 48 hours, measure heights and lengths, check ground bearing and agree access with you.
TG20 reference (or bespoke design) plus a fixed written quote — usually back the same or next working day.
Standard two-storey domestic scaffolds are typically up within one working day. Boards, toe boards, handrails, brick guards as specified.
Handover certificate signed, scaftag fitted, statutory 7-day inspections logged and emailed to you.
When the trade signs off, we strike within 48 hours, sweep the site clean and make good any minor disturbance.
What you actually get
Clear written scope with the job confirmed in writing before work starts.
Lifts set at the heights your roofer or painter actually needs, not generic 'standard' levels that force them to stretch.
We knock on doors, agree access and timing, and avoid blocking driveways without notice. Disputes drop to near zero.
If your trade overruns by a few days, the first week's extension is on us. We don't penalise honest delays.
Current public and employers' liability cover — certificate sent on request before work starts.
We sweep, collect every fitting, and leave the driveway and beds the way we found them.
In detail
The difference between a good and bad domestic scaffold rarely shows up in the price — it shows up in the geometry. Lift heights, board widths, tie patterns, ground bearing and brick guard spec all change depending on the trade and the property. A scaffold sized for a painter is wrong for a roofer; a scaffold sized for a slate re-roof is wrong for a bonded-flat extension.
We design every domestic scaffold in line with TG20:21 (the NASC's User Guide for tube-and-fitting scaffolds) where the geometry allows, and produce a bespoke design when it doesn't — for example, on properties with bay windows, conservatories below the lift, awkward chimney positions or unusual ground falls.
Most modern UK homes get independent scaffolds (free-standing, two rows of standards). Putlog scaffolds — single row, fitted into bed joints — are still appropriate for some traditional brick work but are rarely first choice today.
Standard lifts are 2m, but we drop the working lift to 1.7m for low-eaves bungalows and add half-lifts for awkward gable apexes — the trade gets a comfortable working height, not a stretched one.
Specified by the work above. Tile-stripping and chimney work get full brick-guard cover; painting and gutter work usually don't need it. We don't blanket-spec to inflate the price.
Tied through window reveals where possible, with timber spreaders to avoid masonry damage. Heavy loads (slate piles, materials hoists) move the design out of TG20 — we engineer rather than guess.
