What commercial-grade scaffolding actually involves
Commercial scaffolding isn't bigger residential scaffolding — it's a different discipline. The geometry is more likely to fall outside TG20, the loading is heavier, the ties are more constrained, and the documentation requirements are non-negotiable. A scaffold that's structurally fine but missing one signed-off RAMS stops the job dead.
We work to NASC SG4 (Preventing Falls in Scaffolding Operations) for the erection and dismantle phases, TG20:21 or bespoke design for the structure itself, and document everything against a project-specific H&S plan agreed with your principal contractor.
System vs tube-and-fitting
Larger, repetitive elevations are usually faster and tidier in system scaffold (Layher / Cuplok). Tube-and-fitting wins for irregular geometry, retrofit work and heritage façades.
Loading classes
We design to the correct duty rating — light (75 kg/m²), general (200), heavy (270) or special — based on the trade above. Mis-rating a deck is one of the most common audit findings on third-party inspections.
Façade retention & propping
For deep refurbs we coordinate with structural propping and façade retention designers — scaffold is often part of the wider temporary works package, not a stand-alone item.
Public protection
Pavement gantries, debris fans and fire-rated sheeting on shared façades. We hold the right stock and deploy it without forcing a long lead time on the project.
