    Terms & Conditions

    Last updated: 30 April 2026

    1. About these terms

These terms apply to all scaffolding and associated services supplied by Spartan Contracts Ltd (trading as Spartan Scaffolding), registered at 83 Hailes Wood, Elsenham, Bishop's Stortford, CM22 6DQ. Placing an order or accepting a written quote from us means you accept these terms.

    2. Quotes

    • Written quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated.
    • Quotes are based on the access, scope and ground conditions described to us at survey. Material changes on site (additional lifts, larger spans, restricted access) may attract a written variation.
    • Verbal quotes are indicative only — only the written quote forms part of the contract.

    3. Hire period

    • The first hire period stated in your quote runs from the day of erect to the day of strike.
    • Where you need to extend, please give us 7 days' notice. We'll confirm the extension and the rate in writing.
    • Standard residential and commercial scaffolds carry our hire-rate freeze for the first 4 additional weeks at the original weekly rate.

    4. Payment terms

    • Domestic customers: 50% deposit on acceptance, 50% on completion of erect, payable within 7 days of invoice.
    • Trade customers with an account: 30 days from invoice date.
    • We accept BACS, debit card and credit card. Card payments incur no surcharge.
    • Late payment: statutory interest applies under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 where applicable.

    5. Access, services and ground conditions

You're responsible for arranging safe and legal access to the property on the agreed erect day, including removing obstructions, securing pets, and disclosing the location of underground drains, oil tanks, septic tanks and similar. Where ground conditions require sole boards, sleepers or back-propping not specified at quote, we'll discuss and price the variation in writing before proceeding.

    6. Statutory inspections & alterations

Every Spartan-erected scaffold is inspected at handover and at 7-day intervals thereafter, in line with the Work at Height Regulations 2005. You must not alter, overload or modify the scaffold yourself— including removing boards, ties, guardrails or kickboards. Any required alterations must be carried out by a competent CISRS scaffolder; we provide that service at our published call-out rates.

    7. Workmanship guarantee

Spartan provides a written 12-month workmanship guarantee from the date of handover. Adjustments inside that window arising from our error are free of charge. The guarantee excludes damage caused by other trades on site, third-party tampering, vehicle impact, theft of components, or weather above the design loadings stated in your TG20:21 compliance sheet or bespoke design.

    8. Liability

We carry £10m public liability insurance and £10m employers' liability insurance. Certificates are available on request. Our liability for loss or damage is limited to the value of the contract or the amount payable under our insurance, whichever is the higher. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

    9. Cancellation

    • Domestic customers have the right to cancel within 14 days of accepting the quote, unless work has already started at your express request.
    • If we have already erected, you'll be invoiced for the work done plus reasonable strike costs.
    • We may cancel a job in writing where access cannot be made safe, where there is non-payment of an agreed deposit, or where conditions on site fall outside the scope of the quote.

    10. Complaints procedure

If something isn't right, please email info@spartanscaff.co.uk or call 07426 780 430 and ask to speak to the office manager. We acknowledge complaints within 2 working days and aim to resolve them within 14 days. Where we can't reach an agreement, we're happy to engage with the relevant trade body or, for domestic disputes under £25k, an approved alternative dispute resolution provider.

    11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising under or in connection with these terms is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
