    Our contractor category covers the building work that's too involved for a single trade and too small for a tier-one main contractor: extensions, full house renovations, multi-property landlord refurbishments, light commercial fit-outs, and external repair packages on residential and commercial buildings.

    Clients typically come to us when they've outgrown the "find a builder on a recommendation" approach but don't want the overhead of a large construction firm. We carry the insurance, accreditations and project-management discipline of a larger contractor, but the person quoting your job is the same person managing it on site.

    Because scaffolding is in the business, jobs that involve any work at height — re-roofs, re-renders, chimney rebuilds, external wall insulation — run more cleanly through us than through a contractor who has to bring in scaffold separately.

      Brief & survey

      Site visit to walk the scope, surface hidden risk (drainage, asbestos, party wall, power) and agree what success looks like.

      Itemised proposal

      Written proposal with scope, exclusions, programme, payment stages and assumptions. Sent within 5 working days for most jobs.

    3. 03

      Contract & start

      Simple written contract, RAMS where relevant, trades booked, and a single communications thread set up for daily updates.

    4. 04

      Snag, sign-off, retention

      Final walk-round, snag list agreed in writing, signed off, and final invoice raised only when the snags are closed.

    Most of our contracting work sits in Hertford, Braintree, Harlow and Cambridge and the surrounding Essex, Suffolk and east Hertfordshire patch. Larger projects are taken further afield where it suits the programme. We don't take contracting work we can't supervise weekly in person.
